1. About the Collection of Personal Information

We follow the principles of legality, fairness, and necessity to collect and use your personal information within the scope, methods, and purposes stated in this Policy. If we intend to use your personal information for purposes not mentioned in this Policy or to use personal information collected for specific purposes for other purposes, we will reasonably inform you and obtain your consent before use. Please note that if you provide personal information of individuals other than yourself, you must ensure that you have obtained the relevant individual’s authorization and consent.

(a) Instances of Personal Information Collection

When you register for a Seal Service Platform account, use our services, or interact with us for technical support, assistance, interactive services, or community discussions, you may actively provide personal information to us. To provide our services, we may collect personal information you actively provide and other information collected by us. Specifically:

When you register, create, or log into a Seal account, or when complying with legal requirements for real-name registration, we may collect your name, email address, and phone number.

When you use the Seal Service Platform to seek product consultation and/or service support, fill out our online forms, or communicate with our support team, we may collect your name, company, email address, and phone number to better address and respond to your needs.

When you use the Seal Service Platform’s community discussion services (such as posting comments, participating in topic discussions), we may collect your email address, WeChat account, mobile phone number, and your comment information.

While you use our services, we may collect device information such as device model, device identifiers, MAC address, IP address, wireless connection information, operating system type and version, browser type and version, mobile network information, device location, regional information, as well as log information related to your access, clicks, downloads, message sending/receiving, and other activities related to using the Seal Service Platform to enhance user experience, adaptability, and security.

To enhance your service experience, improve service quality, or recommend personalized services, we may collect your operational records using our services, information provided when contacting our customer service team, and information you send to us during participation in surveys. If you do not agree to our collection of such information, it will not affect your use of other functions we provide.

If we need to indirectly obtain your personal information from third parties to provide you with services, we will request the third party to explain the source of your personal information and confirm its legality, as well as the scope of authorized consent obtained by the provider, including purposes of use, and whether you have authorized consent for transfer, sharing, public disclosure, etc. If the processing of personal information we conduct exceeds the scope of consent you originally provided to the third party, we will obtain your express consent before processing your personal information, except as otherwise provided by laws and regulations.

(b) Other Collection Scenarios

To better maintain and improve the products/services provided by Seal, and continuously enhance your experience when using Seal products/services, when you use Seal products/services, we may collect telemetry data and other data related to your product/service usage (“Telemetry Data”) to use and statistically aggregate diagnostic and analytical information about the use of products/services. Telemetry Data that we may collect mainly includes:

  1. Cluster-related hardware information (only hardware specifications, excluding unique hardware codes).
  2. Cluster-related topology information.
  3. Cluster-related software version information.
  4. Cluster configuration information (only configuration items, excluding configuration values).
  5. Cluster node component usage information.
  6. Cluster node plugin usage information.
  7. Cluster usage metric information.

 

It should be noted that Telemetry Data cannot and will not be used to identify or associate with you personally. When we collect Telemetry Data, we use a hash method to anonymize the server’s unique identifier. We do not retain any IP address information in Telemetry Data. Telemetry Data will be securely stored in our private environment and will not be exposed in any public network environment or cloud. The Telemetry Data feature will remain enabled during the operation of the product/service. If you wish to disable the Telemetry Data feature, you can follow the instructions in our documentation to disable the Telemetry Data feature before starting the product/service or while it is running.

(c) Collection and Use of Personal Information Without Consent

According to relevant laws, regulations, and national standards, we may collect and use your personal information without obtaining your consent in the following situations:

  1. When it is directly related to our fulfillment of obligations as required by laws and regulations.
  2. When it is directly related to national security and national defense security.
  3. When it is directly related to public safety, public health, and significant public interests.
  4. When it is directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of judgments.
  5. When it is difficult to obtain your consent but necessary for the protection of your or other individuals’ vital interests in life, property, etc.

2. About the Use of Cookies and Similar Technologies

(a) When you use the Seal Service Platform and its services, we may save your login status and assign one or more small data files called Cookies to you. For example, when you access information or services that require you to log in, your login name will be encrypted and stored in a Cookie file on your computer when you log in. This irreversible encryption ensures that even if others use your computer, they cannot identify your login name. You don’t need to do anything extra, as all collection, storage, and encryption processes are automatically completed by the system.

(b) Cookie files will be stored on your computer’s hard drive or device terminal’s flash memory. They can only be read by the servers that set them and cannot execute any code or viruses. You can delete them at any time using your browser or operating system software.

(c) The purposes of enabling Cookies are: to improve user experience – with Cookies, websites can remember your single or multiple visits, as well as store settings. This means you don’t need to reconfigure user preferences every time you visit; and for advertising optimization – based on statistics from your visits to relevant websites, we may display products or advertisements that you might be interested in. These statistics do not include any of your personal information and may be used to assess the effectiveness of advertisements. Technologies like Cookies help us provide you with relevant ads based on your information, rather than generic advertising.

(d) Seal will not use Cookies for purposes other than those mentioned in this Policy. You can manage or delete Cookies according to your preferences. When you visit our official website, you can also choose the option to “Not use Cookies” or “Notify me before using Cookies” through your browser, but choosing this option might affect your use of the Seal Service Platform. You may not be able to enjoy a more secure, efficient, smooth, and personalized service, although it won’t affect your normal use of our other services.

(e) Please note that operators of third-party websites you visit, third-party services accessed through the Seal Service Platform, and third parties that receive your personal information from Seal may have their own privacy policies. When you view web pages created by third parties or use applications developed by third parties, these third parties may place their own Cookies. These third parties’ collection and use of personal information through Cookies are not under our control or bound by this Policy; they are subject to the privacy policies of those third parties. We will strive to require these third parties to protect your personal information. We recommend that you carefully read and decide whether to be bound by the privacy policy of third parties before using services provided by third parties through Cookies. If you find any risks associated with web pages created by these third parties or applications developed by third parties, it’s advised to discontinue relevant operations to protect your legal rights and interests.

3. About the Storage and Protection of Your Personal Information

(a) Location and Duration of Storage

  1. We will store the personal information collected within the territory of the People’s Republic of China in strict confidentiality, in compliance with laws and regulations. If certain products involve cross-border operations, and it’s necessary to transfer user personal information collected within China to overseas institutions, we will comply with laws, regulations, and relevant regulatory authorities’ provisions. We will inform you of the purpose of such transfers, the types of personal information involved, the identity of the recipients, their data security capabilities, potential security risks, and obtain your consent. We will also establish clear obligations and responsibilities for all parties through agreements, supervision, audits, etc., requiring overseas institutions to keep the acquired personal information confidential. We will also conduct security assessments as required by laws, regulations, and standards.
  2.  Generally, we will only retain your personal information for the shortest time necessary to achieve the collection purpose and the period required by laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements. After the retention period expires, we will delete or anonymize your personal information.
  3. If we terminate our services or operations, we will notify you in advance and delete or anonymize your personal information after the termination. However, if national laws, regulations, norms, or government policies, orders, etc., require us to retain your personal information for compliance purposes, we will do so. Please note that when our services stop operating, the deletion or anonymization of your personal information will not affect our affiliates’ continued processing of your personal information based on your consent or your continued use of services provided by those affiliates.

  2. In the event of personal information leakage or other security incidents, we will initiate emergency plans to prevent the incident from expanding. We will inform you through notifications, announcements, etc. We will also report the handling of personal information security incidents in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements or regulatory authorities’ demands.
  3. When using the Seal Service Platform, please safeguard your account, password, and other identity authentication elements. We will identify you through your account, password, or other identity authentication elements. If you disclose your Seal Service Platform account, password, or other identity authentication elements, you may lose your information and face adverse legal consequences. If you find that your Seal Service Platform account, password, or other identity authentication elements have been or are about to be disclosed for any reason, please contact us immediately so that we can take appropriate measures to prevent or mitigate the associated losses.

4. About the Use of Your Personal Information

We may use the collected information for the following purposes:

  1. Providing you with our services (including the services described in Section 1).
  2. Reporting to relevant departments in accordance with the requirements of competent national authorities.
  3. When you use our services, we will use your information for identity verification, customer service, security measures, fraud/theft/suspicious transaction monitoring, prevention or prohibition of illegal activities, risk reduction, prevention of risk transmission, archiving, and backup. This ensures the security of the products and services we provide to you.
  4. We may use anonymized, de-identified, or encrypted forms statistically, analytically, or otherwise process your personal information for various purposes. This helps us provide you with more accurate, convenient services, evaluate, improve, design services and operational activities, provide service status notifications, queries, and continuously maintain and improve these functions. If you feel that the above service methods or operational activities have caused you any inconvenience, you can close or unsubscribe, as described in the “Section Six: Changing Your Consent Scope.”
  5. To help you understand the specifics of our services, we may send you service status notifications, conduct marketing promotions, or send other commercial electronic information through the Seal Service Platform, phone, email, mobile text messages, WeChat public accounts, client messages, or other means. This can include invitations to participate in surveys related to our products and services. If you find these methods disturbing, please follow the instructions in the notifications or messages to unsubscribe or close. For specific steps, please refer to “Section Six: Changing Your Consent Scope.”
  6. To protect your or our rights, or to resolve disputes related to you.
  7.  Other purposes authorized by you. If we want to use your personal information for other purposes not specified in this policy or beyond the scope of the purposes for which your personal information was collected, and if these purposes have a direct or reasonable connection, we will seek your consent again in accordance with legal requirements, such as by asking you to click on an agreement, a specific confirmation action, or a pop-up prompt before using your personal information again.

5. About the Disclosure of Your Personal Information to Third Parties

(1) Delegated Processing

In order to enhance the quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of information processing, we may entrust capable partners to process information on our behalf. We will comply with relevant laws and regulations regarding delegated processing, conduct thorough reviews, assess the partners’ ability to protect personal information, and require them to comply with strict confidentiality obligations through written agreements, audits, and other means. We may use technical methods to desensitize personal information being processed under delegation, and we prohibit these partners from using this information for unauthorized purposes or as stipulated by laws and regulations. When the delegation relationship is terminated, we will require the partners not to retain relevant information.

  1. We will obtain your consent in accordance with legal requirements and national standards, or confirm that Third Parties have obtained your consent.
  2. We will share your personal information with Third Parties after obtaining your explicit consent.
  3. We may share your personal information with administrative authorities, judicial institutions, law enforcement agencies, or other regulatory agencies or Third Parties in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, dispute resolution procedures such as lawsuits and arbitration, or requirements raised by relevant regulatory authorities.
  4. We may share your personal information with trusted partners to provide services or support. We may share your personal information with these partners to provide better customer service and optimize user experience. These services or support include providing basic technical services, consulting, and analytical services. These partners are not authorized to use shared personal information for any other purposes.
  5. We may share your personal information with Third Parties according to the agreements or provisions on information sharing reached with you separately.

(3) Transfer

We will not actively transfer your personal information to Third Parties, except for the following circumstances:

  3. It is directly related to public security, public health, or significant public interests.
  4. It is directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of judgments.
  5. It is necessary to protect the vital interests of the data subject or other individuals, but it is difficult to obtain the data subject’s consent.
  6. The personal information is self-published by the data subject to the public or collected from information legally disclosed, such as lawful news reports and government information disclosure.
  7. Other circumstances stipulated by laws and regulations.

6. About the Management of Your Personal Information

We highly value your concerns about personal information and strive to protect your rights to access, correct, delete, withdraw consent, and deactivate your account. During your use of our services, we offer corresponding operation settings to facilitate your exercise of these rights. You can follow the guidelines below:

(1) Access and Correction of Your Personal Information

In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, we ensure your rights to:

  1. Access the personal information we hold about you.
  2. Request us to correct any incorrect or inaccurate personal information about you.
  3. Request the deletion of your personal information in accordance with mandatory legal provisions.

(2) Deleting Your Personal Information

You can directly clear or delete information on our service pages, including community discussion information. If you encounter the following situations, you can contact us through the contact methods mentioned in “Section Nine: Contact Us” of this policy to request the deletion of personal information:

  1. We collect and use personal information in violation of laws, regulations, or agreements with you.
  2. We share or transfer your personal information to Third Parties in violation of laws, regulations, or agreements with you. We will immediately cease the sharing or transfer behavior and notify the Third Parties to delete the information promptly.
  3. We disclose your personal information publicly in violation of laws, regulations, or agreements with you. We will immediately cease the public disclosure behavior and issue notices requesting the relevant recipients to delete the corresponding information.
  4. If you are no longer using our products or services, or if you deactivate your account, or if we terminate the service and operation.

 

(3) Changing Your Authorized Consent Scope

  1. Advertisements Unsubscribe: If you do not wish to receive advertisements sent by us, you can unsubscribe or cancel subscriptions according to the methods provided in the advertisement notices and relevant prompts.
  2. Marketing SMS: If you do not wish to receive marketing SMS messages sent by us, you can unsubscribe according to the methods provided in the SMS messages.

Please understand that each business function requires some basic personal information to be completed. When you withdraw consent or authorization, we will not be able to continue providing services corresponding to the withdrawn consent or authorization, but this will not affect other services we provide to you based on your remaining consent or authorization. Additionally, the decision to withdraw consent or authorization will not affect the processing of personal information conducted based on your previous authorization.

(4) Deactivating Your Account

  1. If you need to deactivate your Seal service platform account, you should contact us through the contact methods mentioned in “Section Nine: Contact Us” of this policy. To protect your rights and those of others, we need to verify your identity when you submit a deactivation request. You will need to provide your name, the phone number or other identification number you used when registering the account, your contact number, and the reason for deactivation. We will judge whether to support your deactivation request based on this information. We will not set unnecessary or unreasonable conditions or obstacles for your deactivation.
  2. After deactivation, we will no longer collect, use, or share personal information related to your account. The personal information in that account will be deleted or anonymized. However, this does not apply if laws, regulations, or regulatory agencies require retention.

If you are unable to access, correct, or delete your personal information through the methods mentioned above, or if you believe that we have violated any laws, regulations, or agreements with you regarding the collection or use of personal information, you can contact us through the contact methods provided in this policy.   2. It is directly related to national security and defense.
  3. It is directly related to public security, public health, or significant public interests.
  4. It is directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of judgments.
  5. There is ample evidence to show your subjective malice or abuse of rights.
  6. It is necessary to protect the vital interests of you or other individuals, but it is difficult to obtain your consent.
  7. Responding to your request will cause serious damage to your legitimate rights and interests or those of other individuals or organizations.
  8. It involves business secrets.

7. Protection of Minors' Rights

You understand and agree that we only provide our services to adults who have full civil capacity and are legally capable of bearing civil liabilities independently and meet legal age requirements. If you are under 18 years of age, we will not provide services to you (except for limited browsing in cases where registration is not required). If we discover that we have collected personal information from minors, we will take necessary measures to promptly delete the relevant information.

8. Updates to This Policy

(1) Our privacy policy may be revised from time to time. Such revisions will be effective from the date of publication and will replace the previous version or form a part of this privacy policy. If you disagree with the revised privacy policy or have objections to the modified or updated content, you can choose to stop using our services or deactivate your account. If you continue to use our services, it signifies your agreement to be bound by the revised privacy policy. Please be aware that actions and activities before the closure of your account or cessation of use are still subject to this policy.

(2) Significant changes to the privacy policy include but are not limited to the following situations:

  1. Significant changes in the service mode we provide, such as the purposes of processing personal information, types of processed personal information, and methods of using personal information.
  2. Significant changes in ownership structure, organizational structure, etc., such as owner changes caused by business adjustments, bankruptcy, and mergers.
  3. Major changes in the main entities with which we share, transfer, or publicly disclose personal information.

  2. It’s important to note that this policy does not apply to services provided to you by Seal’s partner organizations or other third parties. Seal may also contain links to other websites. We will take necessary measures to review such websites according to legal requirements (including reviewing the basic qualifications of website operators, conducting preliminary identification of the security situation of such websites through technical means, urging website operators to protect your personal information security in accordance with legal provisions), but we cannot guarantee that the operators of these linked websites will take protective measures as required by us. If you use third-party products or services in the process of using our services, we recommend that you review their privacy policies to understand how they handle your personal information and make informed decisions.
